Use Your Outlook Express To Backup (export) & Restore (import) Email Data

Outlook Express Version : Outlook Express 5, 6, 7
Window Requirement : Windows XP Home / Professional SP1, SP2, SP3
Outlook Express Program Process name : msimn.exe
Difference : This is not manually backup / restore.

If you prefer used outlook express IMPORT/EXPORT to process your backup/restore email data :-

Open your outlook express before proceed,

BACKUP (EXPORT) PROCEDURE :-
in your outlook express, at top bar click FILE - Export - Message - alert from Export Messages " This will export messages from outlook express to Microsoft outlook or Microsoft exchange, click OK - Choose Profile, press OK -
- either is All Folder OR Selected Folders and click NEXT,
- FINE and done.

RESTORE (IMPORT) PROCEDURE :-
in your outlook express, at top bar click FILE - IMPORT - MESSAGE - at Outlook Express Import table, you can see
"Microsoft Outlook Express 4, 6" (if your restore outlook express data is 5, 5.5, 6, 7, then you can PICK MICROSOFT OUTLOOK EXPRESS 6, otherwise PICK 4 if low than 5) PICK and click NEXT - if either ;
A.) you PICK Microsoft Outlook Express 4,
- PICK Microsoft Outlook Express 4 and click NEXT,
- BROWSE from your RESTORE part click NEXT,
- either is All Folder OR Selected Folders and click NEXT,
- FINE and done.

B.) you PICK Microsoft Outlook Express 6,
1.) Import Mail From as OE6 Identity
- then select which Identity you want restore from,
- click next and specify path is correct or not, just next,
- either is All Folder OR Selected Folders and click NEXT,
- FINE and done.

2.) Import mail from an OE6 Store directory
- BROWSE from your RESTORE part click NEXT,
- either is All Folder OR Selected Folders and click NEXT,
- FINE and done.

There have other method to backup your outlook express data, you can used Third party software, or backup / restore from your outlook express, or MANUALLY backup & restore (highly recommend). But backup or restore from outlook express is taken HUGE TIME and will VERY SLOW if you have create a lot folder inside outlook express and a lot emails.
